Nada Giuseppe Casot Barbaresco

A tidbit about the grape(s)/wine style

The Nebbiolo grape can make a wine of seemingly full of contradictions: delicate cherry, raspberry and rose notes met by leather, tar and anise, with a light-bodied palate awakened with high acid and robust, grippy tannis. It's the sole grape of famed Barolo and Barbaresco wines, the latter requiring slightly less, yet still significant, barrel aging prior to release.

Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
Region: Piedmont, Italy
Appellation: Barbaresco
Aging: 2 years in tonneaux, botticelle, and large Slavonian casks, 4 month in bottle
Alcohol: 14% abv
Tasting Notes: Savory notes of balsamic, tobacco, licorice, mint and thyme are balanced by sour cherry and cranberry. Close-grained, yet grippy, tannins.
Decant: Best when opened 30 min-2 hrs before drinking
Food Suggestions: Fatty grilled or braised meat, mushroom/truffle
